Thanks for the memories Downers Grove North!
After waking everyone up for breakfast, we gathered our bags and got them all loaded on the bus before heading to the airport. We thanked the team for a wonderful trip and prepared them for their departure. Once we arrived, Mark ran ahead of the group to make sure that the check-in process would be smooth and efficient while we unloaded the bags off the bus. From there, we said our goodbyes and watched the group board the plane, filled with memories of a spectacular trip to the UK. We certainly enjoyed having everyone on the trip and look forward to keeping in contact with everyone.
More photos to come, as well as a potential place for everyone to load their photos online for all to see.

International Football Festival Day 4
Following the relaxing evening, the Chicago natives were well rested for their final day of games. The familiar 12:30PM & 2:30PM game schedule held true again today. However, today's opponents were Stretford and Salina. Stretford was vying for the top seed in the bracket and certainly showed their toughness from kickoff. However, our boys were holding their own for most of the first half before we caught a lucky break. After a hard foul just outside Stretford's goal box, their players took offense to the call and made insulting remarks to the referee. Having enough of their running mouths, the referee issued 2 red cards to Stretford, giving the Trojans a 2 man advantage for the balance of the game. Despite a ton of chances and better ball control overall by the Downers Grove squad, the game ended in a draw, 0-0.
The second game proved to be the team's best of the tournament against Salina. The team from Kansas, USA seemed to not be able to catch up with our boys. Eric Garcia put two goals in for the Trojans, one off a penalty kick and another off a well placed strike. Ecstatic about their win, they changed out of their boots and boarded the bus to return to the hotel to clean up before starting their evening celebration. Here is a link to the tournament results. Our team was in Youth B - League E: http://manchester.jmdshosting.co.uk/cgi-bin/index.cgi?action=showhtml&id=tourn96
Once cleaned up, we took a quick jaunt over to Parrs Wood Entertainment complex. There, the boys ate a pre-dinner dinner and then entertained themselves with arcades, bowling, and laser tag. Unfortunately for Head Coach Brian, Assistant Coach Oliver was quite the pool shark, downing him 6 games to 2. In addition, Mike continued his unbeaten streak in air hockey with games against John & the Pickering's. Everyone seemed to have a great time and we got back to the hotel early so everyone could pack and get ready for their 10AM flight out of Manchester Airport the next morning. The boys spent most of the night hanging out with our friends from Norway before heading back to their rooms to pack.
